A trap for the boxwood borer (Cydalima perspectalis), the larvae of which quickly devour the leaves of the boxwood, which turn an ochre-yellow colour, leading to rapid decay of the plant.
This trap is suitable for monitoring the insect at the adult butterfly stage. It uses a synthetic replica of the scent produced by the female to attract the males into the trap where they remain stuck on the glue-covered support. The capture of male insects thus reduces fertilisation and the number of eggs laid.
How to use the boxwood borer trap from Flortis:
Double use, hanging: remove the silicone paper protecting the glue layer on both sides, place the pheromone in the slot, insert the wire into the hole and hang the trap.
Inserted in the ground: remove the silicone paper protecting the layer of glue on both sides, place the pheromone in the slot, insert the trap in the ground using the wooden stick provided in the package, after inserting it into the two holes. It is advisable to install the traps by the end of April until the end of August as the moth overwinters in the soil in the chrysalis state. The first adults flicker at the end of the winter, although flights only become significant from the first half of June. It is therefore recommended to set traps by the end of April until the end of August. One trap is effective for controlling/monitoring 3 to 5 trees (within a radius of 15 metres). Replace the trap if full of insects or after 6 to 8 weeks of use.
