The adult insect is a fly. The fertilised female lays her eggs just under the skin of the fruit. The larva that hatches feeds and develops, causing very serious damage: gnawed flesh, rot, fruit drop.

The principle is to mimic the volatile substances emitted by the female insect (female pheromone) in order to play a role of recognition and sexual attraction on males.
These are attracted and get trapped and eliminated. This prevents mating, reproduction and thus egg-laying.<\/p>\n
Pheromones are used with a special trap<\/a> and must be applied to the appropriate adhesive refills.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n Position the traps when the olives have reached about 8 mm and leave them until harvesting.
