La ra\u00edz, partiendo del centro de la planta, se dirige hacia el extremo de la maceta y, guiada por las pir\u00e1mides colocadas internamente, se canaliza hacia las ranuras de apertura, donde, al encontrar un entorno con un alto porcentaje de aire, comienza a deshidratarse en el \u00e1pice, iniciando el proceso de poda a\u00e9rea (autopoda).
